Series of five Workshop and final performance at Museo Madre. Napoli 2025

galline capovolte in balli di foglie
(chickens upside-downers in balls of leaves)

A workshop of transformation, reversal, and embodiment through plant weaving.
Participants explored carnival rituals together as a space of memory, possibility,
and shared power, as an act of subversion, radical play, and bodily affirmation.

We climbed onto the rooftops, step by step, recognizing ourselves as bodies made of layers.
We sang to the wind a spell of support and closeness, addressed to the new heroines who
prise open invisible, devastatingly lethal prisons.
Within this weave of cement and humanized stones, moving through the rituals of carnival,
we intertwined the plants encountered along the way.
We brought distant directions closer and set into resonance bodies never thought to be akin,
to support those who needed it.
We celebrated bodies not yet hardened, remaining within the conflict between the perpetual
duty to act and the mournful suffering when there is nothing to be done.

From the hall up to the roof, the parade climbed vertically through the permanent collection,
passing between grand and disused staircases. A rain of leaves, woven masks, and long braided lianas
welcomed us and allowed more people to get dressed. Jumps holding hands on both sides,
continuous and nearly forced laughter mingling with honks played by a wind piano.
